The academic school year is in full swing here at Eagle View Elementary. Students and teachers are working each day to bring FCPS Portrait of a Graduate (POG) Attributes to life in the classroom. Teachers are intentionally planning for instruction focused around communication and collaboration, and students are seeing more obvious connections between POG and core content areas.

Improving communication and collaboration skills in students is a school-wide priority. Eagle View Elementary’s School Improvement Innovation Plan includes the following Innovation Goal: By June 2019, all teachers will implement at least two meaningful learning experiences aligned with the POG Attributes Communicator and Collaborator by embedding POG in their planning. Once a month, we’ll highlight an example of this great work happening in classroom at Eagle View.

In Ms. Pezzuti’s fifth grade class, students see Portrait of a Graduate connections in each of their daily learning objectives. Posting learning objectives for each subject area helps students set academic goals for the day and understand their learning path. Linking those objectives to POG Attributes allows students to target the specific skills needed to master their daily learning goals. This is one of the many ways teachers are embedding POG in their daily activities here at Eagle View.
