English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services help students achieve academic success, develop critical thinking skills, and solve problems. More specifically, ESOL services:
Develops English learners’ language proficiency and communication skills.
Creates rigorous content-based curricula and resources to foster English learners’ collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Supports English learners’ access to advanced academics or appropriate special services.
Provides learning environments that build on students’ diverse academic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds.
Promotes active participation of English learners and their families in the school community.
Our ESOL Staff
- ESOL Teacher, ES
Ms. Santana has been teaching English Learners in Fairfax County for 16 years, including 5 years at Dogwood Elementary before opening Eagle View Elementary in 2006. She earned an English degree from Colgate University, after learning Spanish in the Dominican Republic which sparked her love of language. Later she obtained a TESOL certificate from American University and a master’s degree in Teaching & New Professional Studies from George Mason University. Ms. Santana spent this summer training to become a yoga teacher. She looks forward to practicing mindfulness and wellness with Eagle View staff, students, and families.

Ms. Kim joined Eagle View in 2010 as a 5th grade teacher, but has been working as an ESOL teacher for the past 6 years. Ms. Kim started her career as a middle school math teacher in New Jersey then moved to FCPS in 2004 as a classroom teacher grades 4-6. She earned her B.A. at Emory University, and her M.Ed at George Mason University. She enjoys working with children in and out of school and spending time with her three children and husband. Ms. Kim is always on the go either traveling, going on adventure courses, or trying something new.
